Over the last few years, Google seem to be updating their pagerank index about every six months.  Earlier this year, the Google pagerank was update at the end of March.  Given that Google seems to like to update half yearly, the next update is aticipated towards the end of September, about 7 or 8 weeks away now.

When websites are new, it is easy to jump from a zero to a one, or from a one to a two, but with each successive increment it becomes much more difficult to climb the pagerank ladder.  This is because the levels are not systematic or even, but rather hyperbolic. So for example it might take ten links to rank you as PR1, but it might take 100 and not 20 (in other words 10X10, not 10+10) to get a PR2.  And to get a PR3 might be 10X10X10 and so on.  This is just illustrative and an over simplistic explanation of the Google pagerank algorithm.

Things you can do to help increase your pagerank is to build links from other sites, but with a focus on quality links rather than quantity.  For example, one link from a PR5 page is worth about 550 links from PR1 sites.  Try not to buy these links because that is not considered “fair” by Google.  You can obtain these links by link exchanges, through link directories, through link baiting, through writing quality articles and quality content.

One more think, Google loves to be unpredictable.  So the next pagerank update may actually happen anytime.  September is just my best quess.
